As a Valerian Developer + Analyst, Alan acts like a technical Swiss army knife, covering a range of responsibilities.

An incredibly active person, Alan enjoys a wide range of sports—including but not limited to martial arts, soccer, and volleyball—and he can often be found hiking in nature while soaking in the views. 🏜️ If you need someone for a physical activity, Alan is usually up for it!

Cars have always played a huge role in Alan’s life, and he also enjoys spending time watching the incredible storytelling of anime. A world traveler, Alan lived in Japan for 2 years (a living situation that went along nicely with his love of anime) and has traveled to Taiwan, Korea, Australia, and Mexico (with plans in the works for a European trip soon!).

Alan has always had an inquisitive mind, something that makes him incredible at his job.

He remembers having an interest in learning how things work and why, even from a young age, and that curiosity has developed into an ability to dissect complex problems at work.

A lot of what he does at Valerian involves assessing a technical issue and figuring out how to fix it, something that gives him a lot of personal satisfaction. Alan creates reporting dashboards, writes CSS and Javascript, and he brings web designs to life (although design itself is his self-proclaimed kryptonite).

Since his recent return from Japan, Alan’s been living in sunny San Diego where he has ready access to his favorite local food, Carne Asada Fries, a San Diego specialty.Â
