Introduction to Elementor (page editing)

What is Elementor?

While WordPress is your content management system (sometimes referred to as a website platform), we use Elementor to actually build the pages of your website. With Elementor, your website will still be built on WordPress, but we layer Elementor over WordPress for a couple of reasons:

  • Elementor makes it easier to edit your pages and content. You can drag and drop components like you often see on platforms like Wix or Squarespace, but you retain all the features that WordPress offers (such as Gravity forms, widgets, integrations with CRMs, and more).
  • There’s a large community behind Elementor. This builder has been around since the mid-2010s and has been growing ever since. There are lots of folks working to make it the best it can be, and plenty of people to help you understand how to use Elementor to build the best website.

Elementor will come pre-installed on your website since we use it in our development process. When you enter the admin area of your site, you’ll see Elementor in the sidebar, and each page will have an option that says Edit with Elementor, which will be the way we recommend you make any and all changes to your site.

In the past, Elementor has gotten some criticism for being slow, but they’ve made great strides in the past years to correct some of these issues. We are also careful to only enable features that you need, and we make use of other performance features to ensure that your site is offering the fastest experience possible.

What can Elementor do?

Drag and drop

One of the things we love about Elementor is the fact that you can easily drag and drop components like headings, text boxes, images, and more to make your website look exactly how you want it.

Styling and templates

We use Elementor when we build your website, so we set up styling as part of that process. This means that when you go to add a new page or a new block to your existing site, you don’t have to do the work to make the appearance match the rest of the site. You can easily pull up the templates that we build using Elementor and reuse them to add whatever you’d like.

Simple changes

Elementor offers incredibly intuitive editing, something that simplifies the process of making changes or updates to your site. You simply click on what you want to change and enter the new content. It’s that easy.

Pop-ups

With Elementor, you can add a pop-up without having to use a plugin; the pop-up capability is already present in the builder. This makes things like opt-in experiences a lot more seamless to create.

Mobile-responsive features

Having a website that is mobile-responsive is important because it means your website will appear just as impressive and polished on a phone or tablet as it will on a desktop or laptop computer. Elementor allows easy control of how features change depending on what device someone is using to view your site.

How can I learn more about Elementor?

We have our own video and written tutorials to guide you through Elementor and using it to change your website. Our videos tend to focus on the things we typically build into our clients’ websites, as well as our own tips and tricks. If you’re looking for a broader exploration of Elementor, there is an Elementor Academy that includes tutorials, as well as a Help Center. You can access these via the Elementor website:
